Beef Stir Fry Just Like Take-Out 30 Minute Meal
Are you looking for a quick and easy recipe? This beef stir fry is a 30-minute (or less) to cook. It's perfect for when you are super busy, just home from work, and need a quick meal. What I love about this recipe is that it tastes just like take-out. Plus, it's a healthy dinner idea, and Paleo.
Beef Stir Fry

Quick Tips for Perfect Stir Fry
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain
This keeps the beef tender and prevents it from becoming chewy. Chilling the beef for 10–15 minutes before slicing makes this even easier. - Cook the beef in batches if needed
Avoid overcrowding the pan — cooking in batches helps the beef brown properly instead of steaming. - Prep everything before you start cooking
Stir fry moves fast. Having your beef, vegetables, and sauce ready ensures even cooking and bold flavor without overcooking anything.
Beef stir fry recipe alternatives
- Omit red bell peppers and jalapeños; substitute with broccoli heads, which will make this a beef and broccoli stir-fry
If you can't find the right steak or beef cut for the recipe, ask your grocery store's butcher or look for pre-sliced beef for stir-fry.
Ingredients for Beef Stir Fry
- Steak (we used boneless rib-eye steak)
- Onion
- Red bell pepper and Green bell pepper
- 3-4 Green onions
- 1 Jalapeno (optional)
- Broccoli Florets (optional)
- Stir Fry Soy Sauce or Soy Sauce
- Palm oil, sesame seed oil, or your favorite cooking oil. (I used palm oil, it's great for high-temperature cooking)
- Rice (Jasmine, white, or other)
Optional Ingredients: sliced carrots or other seasonal vegetables for stir fry. Fresh ginger and garlic cloves, or dried seasonings.
Spices for the recipe
- Garlic Powder
- Ground Ginger
- Ground Black Pepper
- Salt (just a pinch)
Directions and Tips for Beef Stir Fry
- Follow the directions on your rice package. Do this if you are making beef stir fry with rice.
- Start cooking the rice before starting the stir-fry recipe.
- If the rice gets done first, keep it covered with the stove off, and do not sit on the warm burner when done.
- If you are steaming the broccoli, start cooking it when you begin cooking the beef for the stir fry. Do not overcook it. Only cook it for a few minutes to take the crispness out of it. Optionally, you can cook it with the beef. I prefer adding it only at the last minute so the beef doesn't get over-cooked. And broccoli doesn't get overcooked.
Can you cook the broccoli in the stir fry?
Yes! If you like your broccoli a bit crunchy or barely cooked, you can.
How to Make a Healthy Beef Stir Fry
Instructions
Prepare your vegetables
- First, wash and cut up your veggies.
- Cut bell peppers into strips.
- Then peel and cut up onions.
- Chop green onions.
- Seed the jalapeno, and mince it into tiny pieces if you are using one in the recipe.
Prepare your beef by cutting it into strips

Take the steak out of the package, and cut it into strips for cooking.

How to Stir Fry the Beef
Add to the skillet
- 2-3 tsp. of Palm oil to your non-stick skillet or wok
- The cut-up beef strips to the skillet.
- Sprinkle with garlic powder, ground black pepper, and a dash of salt.
- Cook on a medium-high temperature, stirring frequently.

Season With Soy Sauce
Next, add 1/4 cup of soy sauce for the beef stir-fry sauce. Add vegetables on top of the beef, and stir together. Cook until veggies are just tender.

Cook until browned
Continue cooking on each side, 2-3 minutes. This goes by quickly, and the beef for the beef stir fry will finish its cooking time when you cook the veggies.

Thicken The Sauce
Some people add other ingredients to thicken the sauce, such as corn starch. I don't use cornstarch. But you can. Just follow the directions on the package.

Serve Dinner With Rice and Enjoy!
When your stir fry is done. Serve with a side of sticky rice or white rice.

Add Addtional Soy Sauce to Taste
Serve with soy sauce on the table if you wish. On this day, for dinner, we served our broccoli on the side.
