Crafting Holiday Houses & Winter Villages
Dear Creatives, One thing I have always wanted to do is create a little village scene full of handmade sparkly houses. I started to do a little research on them, first finding lots of inspiration via Pinterest of course & other sites. Then coming across video tutorial & templates. I know we will be having a pretty house soon & if we work fast enough, maybe a village before Christmas has arrived. If not it is a project that like gingerbread houses I may do every year. Along with building these houses I will be building memories with Sammie.
I would love a winter y scene to set on the mantel or top of the piano. So if you are like me you might like to check out this 4 part video series on The Craft channel with Melissa Frances. I see a giant mess of creating coming to our kitchen soon. I showed Sammie some completed & how they look. I love that she is at the age where she can make some of her own with a little help. That means I might just come up with a village sooner than I think! If only my other daughters were closer, lol. I love LilybeanPaperie for paper crafting inspiration. Cards, banners this little holiday house & plenty more. If you love pretty you will love it! Click image to see post, link takes you to home page. That is how I found the video tutorial for the holiday village go here to see the rest. This will take you to the page that has all the related episodes. I can’t wait to finish watching myself!
Now on Martha Stewart she has templates & directions for the Winter Village Handmade House. So between the two. I hope this finds myself & you creating a little winter house or village. If you make one or some, be sure to link up or email me to submit for a featured post. I’d love to see what your creating!
How to create the house with cereal boxes was shared by Amy Powers in the 2010 Issue of Inspired Ideas. Just visit to see full size & even subscribe if you like. Good thing the Mr. loves his bowl of cereal at night, but I guess I should of been saving the boxes. But, would that make me a hoarder? Might just purchase cardboard & save cereal boxes as needed.
