I also like to share creative tips, supplies or blogging tips when I do my behind the blog series. Things that can help you with your blogging, crafting and creativity. When your done you can find more Behind The Blog series posts to read if you like.
I know if you are a mom like me, summer is the time of year that can challenge our personal creativity. Time may be limited but, there are times you can set aside with planning. Make time to work on crafting projects when kids nap, play outdoors or at night. Don’t forget we can do many crafting projects with the kids too. You can find video tutorials on Creative Bug for both you and for kids! I have some posts coming soon that will help you too. You can find many projects in the galleries and drop downs in the navigation bar, just to start.
Craft materials I’m loving and have been working on: Drawing and painting on wood rounds. You can see this deer project finished on my Instagram. Follow me there for sneak peaks and more behind the scenes. I’ll be sharing the project here soon. First I drew a draft of the image then painted with clear gesso (which seals the wood), then acrylic paints and pastel pencils. Next I’ll seal them. If you don’t draw and want to try making one let me know in comments if you are interested in a animal templates.
I ordered samples of felt material. I had been wanting to do several felt projects. I wasn’t sure of the quality vs pricing but, after looking at several shops ordered some. I love, love, love the feel of felt. This wool blend felt, it’s so very nice. I can’t wait to show you my two projects! I loved Benzie’s pretty bags for their felt pom poms and felt ties on the hoops. Branding love! The only thing is wool isn’t cheap and this added up super quick. I splurged for a nursery gift I am making.
I found a few better deals wool blend felt that I think I’ll try next for doing projects with Sammie this summer, along with this felt project book Happy Stitch 30 Felt and Fabric Projects for everyday. What wool suppliers do you use? or Have been happy with?
Did you know that June is Humane Society’s adopt a cat month? We got our cat Monroe from a shelter showing at a local park two years ago. Some shelters waive fees for adult cat’s in June. Grab a free screen saver and find out their “TOP TEN” CHECKLIST FOR ADOPTING A CAT. When we adopted we found out that black cats are the least adopted cat due to superstitions and lack of coloring. It’s common for kitty’s to have kennel cold’s but, they treat them. It only took our kitty a week or so to be cold free. He’s been super healthy ever since. He turns two this summer and the sweetest cat. He loves to help craft and get into my photo shoots. I can’t wait to share some close up of his beautiful eyes!
- I’m love this round-up of 10 Cat DIY’s via BzzFeed A few of these have been on our Summer DIY list Sammie and I have been wanting to carve some new stamps up, stamp on tees and more.
