Dear Creatives, Its getting hot here! We have temperatures reaching over 107* No shade umbrella, or super hero can save us from this heat wave! I must admit I was challenged today with no air conditioning working. We laid low. I worked on an upcoming project until the room was so hot I had to move under the ceiling fans, playing Uno. House closed up, wishing for the fog to roll in, wind to blow,  a Popsicle or some kind of relief. Only to have 8pm roll around & it be cool enough in the kitchen to eat some BBQ & watch Craft Wars then Rizzoli & Isles. {sigh}

I want so much to get more done, to be ironing the fabric I just got & cutting it out to sew a project, but more heat? No thank you. Maybe in a day or two or if we wake earlier I can get it done prior to the heat! Heck it’s almost midnight & over 80* Today I am sharing a few things of inspiration for you,  marking my calendars for things to try & sharing Lemonade Recipes & free Lemonade Stand Printable s.

Have you ever worked with shrink material? I haven’t but have seen plenty of cute things made with it! So this is on my list of fun to try this summer with Sammie. The Popsicle sticks above are so, so cute & makes me wish I had a kiln. Before it got hot Sammie & I made some sculpty clay crafts, when they are all painted up I & photographed I promise to share.

I’m on the look out for a small vintage table just the right height & size similar to this so I can make a little spot  for my sewing machine.

This makes me want to make a lemonade stand photo shoot with Sammie. How fun would that be? Oh, that vintage scale, sunflowers & golden yellows.

Oh, I know I’ll be drinking lots of lemonade in the heat of the day & thought I would share a lemonade recipe or two in case you’d like to try a batch yourself!

Paula Dean’s Lemonade:

2 cups sugar
1 cup hot water
2 cups fresh lemon juice
1 gallon cold water
1 lemon, sliced
Mint sprigs, for garnish
In a 1 gallon container, place sugar and hot water, and stir until sugar dissolves. Add lemon juice and cold water to render 1 gallon. Stir until well mixed. Pour lemonade over glasses of ice, squeeze slice of lemon on top of each, and garnish with a sprig of mint

Agave Lemonade (video tutorial) & no sugar alternative

Simple Syrup for making fresh Lemonade 1 cup sugar + 1 cup water In a medium saucepan combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool. Add fresh lemons, water to taste & ice.

Every time I drink lemonade in the summer I think of an old book my grandparents read to me over & over. Lentil who couldn’t sing, saved up and purchased a harmonica. He ends up saving the day & it has lemons in the story, I don’t want to give it away. Lentil is a very old book, but you can find it in a library. Young kids love this story. Have you ever heard of it?

What things are you working on? Thoughts on Craft Wars? A favorite craft or recipe?
