Easy Dessert Recipe Apple Crisp Cinnamon Sugar and Apples

Combine flour, sugar, and cinnamon, and coat your apples by mixing them.

This is the part the kids can even help with, let them pour and stir for you. But, I can't guarantee they won't grab a sugared cinnamon apple and run away.

After the apples are fully coated with the flour, sugar, and cinnamon, follow the steps below!

Easy Dessert Recipe Apple Crisp being put into mason jars

  1. Before adding the apples to the mason jars, don't forget to spray the mason jars with Pam cooking spray.
  2. Place a few coated apples in each jar.
  3. Then make the topping mixture and pop it into the oven.

See below for a small kitchen supply list, which is handy to have if you love to bake. Along with an article to help you make the best crisp ever! And you can print the recipe below.

Tips for Making the Best Mason Jar Apple Crisp

  • Choose the right apples: Firm, slightly tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp hold up well and balance the sweetness.
  • Even layers: Slice apples uniformly and layer evenly in the jars for consistent baking.
  • Butter and crumble ratio: Don’t skimp on the crumble topping — a mix of butter, oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon gives the perfect crunch.
  • Fill jars properly: Leave about ½ inch at the top so the crisp doesn’t overflow while baking.
  • Optional add-ins: Add chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts) or a sprinkle of caramel for extra flavor.
  • Check doneness: Apples should be tender but not mushy, and the topping should be golden brown.

Serving Ideas: Brunch, Picnics, and Fall Gatherings

  • Brunch: Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Picnics: Cover jars with lids and take along for a mess-free dessert. Single-serve jars are easy to stack and transport.
  • Fall gatherings: Arrange on a wooden tray or tiered stand for a cozy, rustic presentation.
  • Kids’ snacks: Perfect portion size for little hands, and no need for cutting.
  • Party favors: Tie a ribbon around the jar and serve as a festive take-home treat.

Make-Ahead and Storage Tips for Mason Jar Apple Crisp

  • Make ahead: Assemble jars a day in advance and store in the fridge. Bake just before serving for a fresh, crisp topping.
  • Storage: Store baked apple crisp in jars with lids in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: Warm jars in the oven at 350°F for 10–12 minutes, or microwave for 30–45 seconds.
  • Freezing: You can freeze unbaked apple crisp jars for up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the fridge and bake the next day.
  • Keep it crunchy: If the topping gets soft in the fridge, sprinkle a few extra oats or brown sugar on top and warm before serving.
