I designed a new set of pretty weekly planner printables! They are designed for fall. One of the printables is a weekly meal planner and shopping list. I have also included a free printable bonus that is non-seasonal.

Meal Planning Tips

My biggest tip is to clean out the fridge and look in the pantry before planning. You will know what you have on hand, and what you need to restock (in general, as in repeat items such as coffee, milk, canned goods…). Then start planning.

  1. Go to your grocery app and see what is on sale for the week. If you don’t use an app. use a flyer from the grocery store.
  2. Find the (in-app) coupons and rewards available (and in apps like Ibotta).
  3. Do you need recipe ideas? Go to our recipe index, Pinterest, and reach for your favorite cookbook or cooking magazines.
  4. Grab a few recipes you want to make; That will use ingredients on sale and food or pantry staples you have on hand.
  5. Start planning what days you will cook what recipe. Grab quick and easy recipes for days you are busy. Do you want to cook a complicated or new recipe? For recipes that require longer cooking times, consider making them on weekends or days off.

If you have leftovers can you make that into a different meal? Do you give yourself a day off from cooking? I do, once a week. We either eat leftovers or grab takeout.

Pick a day off -When you are busy, have an appointment, or when the kids have sports…

The Benefits of Using a Meal Planning Printable

  1. Organization and Staying on Track – Avoid not knowing what to cook and the stress of coming up with dinner. Using the meal planner you will have a clear way to be organized and have a plan.
  2. Save Money and Time! – By planning your meals, you can save time and money on grocery shopping. It makes meal preparation easier and can help you avoid impulse purchases, plus sticking to your budget.
  3. Eat Healthy – You have time to plan a well-balanced meal… and not just grab something easy that isn’t as good for you.
  4. Variety of Meals – By planning you can break from the rut and routine of the same recipes and add a new recipe to try. Or try cooking other cuisines.
  5. Using a meal planning printable can be a valuable tool – Improve the mealtime experience. Focus, maintain, and achieve your health and wellness goals.
