10 Must-Have Home Office Essentials to Boost Your Productivity
Are you ready to have a more productive year and finally meet your personal or work goals? Before you know it, the New Year will be here—closely followed by the rush of April’s tax season.
Have you made your vision board yet? If not, click here to plan and create one. If you’ve already mapped out your dreams, it’s time to set up the systems that will actually help you achieve them. It all starts with your home office organization essentials.
We all know that New Year’s energy can fade quickly. It’s easy to lose focus without the right tools and supplies to support your habits. To help you stay on task, I’ve curated a list of essentials designed to keep your office, your schedule, and your finances on track.
I’ve already purchased several of these supplies myself, and they have been total game-changers! My personal goal is to be much more organized than I was last year. I’m focusing on a system that allows for easy review, digitization, and management of receipts, deductibles, and expenses. You can see exactly how I set up my office here to get a better look at these systems in action.

Mastering Your Schedule
Things to do: Office supplies to help you manage your schedule and organize your office and paperwork.

Use Planners, Calendars, and Daily To Do Lists
- Wall/Desk Calendars: Focus on “at-a-glance” visibility for the whole family/office.
- Weekly Notepad Agendas: Explain why these are great for “micro-planning” without the commitment of a full bound book.
- Daily To-Do Lists: Prioritize your “Big 3” tasks. And others under them.
Create a Command Center (Office Organization)
- Filing Systems: Categorizing file folders (Medical, Home, Work, Small Business, etc.).
- Desktop Organizers: Desk trays, office organization sets, and cable management.
- The Aesthetic Factor: Choosing tools that look good (gold accents, pastel colors, florals, bespoke…) will keep you motivated to use them.
- Keep “Current Projects” separate from “Reference Materials.”
- The “Clear Desk” Habit: Promoting a mental reset at the end of every Friday.
Digital Command Centers
For Home and Small Business Track Expenses & Keep Receipts
- Receipt Management: Use Accordion folders or use a receipt scanner (or both).
- Get and make a “Tax Box”: A simple system to start collecting documents now, so April and doing your taxes isn't a nightmare.
- Monthly Expense Trackers. I love using them (for home and my small business) and then adding them digitally to my spreadsheets.
