Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies
Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies – This is the oatmeal cookies recipe that we have been using for three generations. Hands down our favorite oatmeal cookies. Try this vanishing oatmeal raisin cookies recipe to see why! Easy to adapt by using raisins, chocolate chips, nuts or dried fruits.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup 1 stick plus 6 tbsp. butter softened
- 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt optional
- 3 Cups Quaker Oats quick or old fashioned uncooked
- 1 cup Raisins optional
- 1 cup Chocolate Chips optional
Instructions

Heat oven to *350

In a large bowl, cream butter, sugars. Then add in eggs and vanilla.

Mix well.

In a separate bowl add flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Whisk them together by hand, slowly.

Slowly add your dry mix to your creamed mixture in the larger bowl. After it’s added and mixed well. Add your oatmeal and optional raisins or chocolate chips. OR both.

Add Oats and raisins. Fold in, mixing well until combined.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto un-greased cookie sheets ( I use parchment paper )

Bake 8-10 minutes or until light golden brown.

Cool a few minutes before you transfer cookies to wire rack to complete cooling. Only after the oatmeal cookies are completely cooled transfer to store in tightly cover containers.

Makes about 4 dozen oatmeal cookies.
Recipe Notes
If using raisins omit chocolate chips or you can use 1/2 of a cup of each! Same for if using chocolate chips omit raisin or use 1/2 a cup of each.
