Nautical Fashions Perfect for Labor Day Outings & Parties
This has been a wicked week and I’m not talking Halloween here. It’s been scorching hot and schools back in. It’s not a great combo without air conditioning. I’m wiping the sweat from my brow at 105 degrees outside as I write this. Indoors is like a sauna, if I did hot yoga it would be perfect. The heat can really take it out of you not sleeping well, getting up early. All I want to do is sit under the ceiling fan and drink ice water. I can’t wait for our next long weekend and last hurrah sending summer goodbye. I rounded up a few nautical fashions that caught my eye and am sharing a little of this and that along with it.
I mulled around a bit on Polyvore checking out fashion boards. Speaking of fashions are any of you watching Project Runway? It’s on Thursdays on Lifetime which you can view online too. I still love watching the challenges, how the designers handle the stress of time and manage to get the outfits completed on time. I think one of the reasons I enjoy the show is the mix of designers along with the challenges. They are all so varied. If you want to catch up the episode 1-3 are up for viewing and episode 4 will be this Thursday.
- Keep your eyes out for 2016 Spring Fashions hitting the runways in NYC as fashion week this is happening in September!
Nautical Fashions
I started a sewing restyle board on Pinterest, besides my regular sewing and fashion boards. I’ve been pinning things that catch my eye over there. Speaking of fashions I spotted nautical pants and stripes everywhere. I’ve been smitten on stripes since last year. When my friends and I were teens we lived in San Francisco area and shopped at the Army / Navy outlet stores. We used to get nautical pants that were straight from the source of inspiration. We would hunt through piles of pants to find the sizes we needed. I can’t help still being smitten with nautical. Are you?
Last year we toured an aircraft Navy ship in Alameda, CA. The USS Hornet which is now the USS Hornet Museum. They even house the Apollo 11 Space Mission Capsule too. If you are ever near there check it out. It was really amazing.

I love pairing nautical pants with striped tops. For Labor day weekend nautical is a classic fashion pick. But, I love nautical all year round. In fall topped with a chunky sweater or jacket.
For a casual look red Keds and white Converse chucks .
Or paired with a red suede flat to dress it up a bit. If you love heels I loved this pair of wedge sandals with stripes UGG Lucianna Sandals which happen to be on sale!
Finish it off with a nautical bag for the weekend! Here’s a few that we loved.
