Chocolate Dipped Chocolate Chip Cookies
This is a quick and easy recipe you can use homemade chocolate chip cookies or purchase chocolate chip cookie dough.
I love adding seasonal candy sprinkles for holidays, but that’s optional. With spring is in the air, I need to get all the baking I can in. Once summer hits here (it comes early in Central California), no ovens go on for months. It will be back to no bake desserts.

Having a teen in the house, and being busy means I don’t always have time to make cookies from scratch. I don’t beat myself up about it. I just use a good cookie dough like the one I used on this post. Again, for this white chocolate dipped cookies recipe you can use a homemade cookies recipe or packaged dough it’s up to you. No one would be the wiser.

How to make chocolate dipped cookies
Chocolate Chip Cookies Dipped in White Chocolate
Directions
Make either homemade chocolate chip cookies, or get a chocolate chip dough bake per recipe instructions.
To start decorating your cookies with the dipped chocolate; First set up your dipping station, and make sure your cookies are cooled all the way!
This is for the edges, and places the white chocolate might not go on evenly.
How to make chocolate dipped cookies?
- Make the cookies, and cool them completely
- Melt the chocolate chips in a microwaveable bowl, using directions above
- Dip the cookies into the chocolate half way
- Remove, and take your spatula to spread chocolate on edges or areas to even it out
- Pour sprinkles over your melted chocolate cookie, while holding over a plate to catch excess (if not adding sprinkles skip this part, or grab seasonal sprinkles)
- Place your cookie on a non stick baking sheet or parchment lined surface until chocolate hardenes
- Tada! It’s that easy!
Now, I don’t know about you but, this makes me feel like part baker, part chocolatier. Smelling the cookies, and melted chocolate. Dipping the the chocolate cookies in sprinkles. I think my teen, Sammie just came in the kitchen to sneak cookies. The yum factor makes it hard to wait. I thought she was coming in to get in on the baking fun.

Ingredients
- Use the chocolate chip cookies recipe in notes or purchase packaged ready to bake chocolate chip cookies.
- 1 package of white chocolate chips or your favorite chocolate chips
- 1 or 2 jars of seasonal sprinkles optional see notes
Instructions

Make either homemade chocolate chip cookies, or get a chocolate chip dough.

To start decorating your cookies with the dipped chocolate set up your dipping station, and make sure your cookies are cooled all the way!

You will need a tool for spreading icing I use a cake spatula . Or grab a butter knife. This is for the edges, and places the white chocolate might not go on evenly.

For melting white chocolate chips you’ll need a microwave proof bowl, white chocolate chips (or semi sweet or dark chocolate if you prefer for other seasons)

Directions for melting white chocolate chips –

Heat your small bowl of chocolate chips on med/high (and one tsp. vegetable shortening *optional)

Stop half way through your setting to check on chips and stir them. Use hot pads when handling the bowl.

Continue to heat melting chips until they are fully melted and creamy looking.

It should only take a minute or so, depending on how much you put into the bowl.
TIPS for melting chocolate

Use small batches for the chocolate, and do not overheat in microwave, or it may scorch or burn. (use hot pads when handling the bowl)

Work in small batches.

Use a spatula to spread chocolate to cover cookie quickly as possible, as white chocolate cools it hardens.
