Are you ready to sew baby booties? Today I’m sharing baby booties that I made from a baby booties pattern that was quick and easy. Yay, another project under my belt with more to go. If you are ready to sew a project for a baby shower gift or your own baby you might want to stick around to see how easy it can be. Now I moved on to another sewing project for baby.

You probably should have basic sewing skills and a few other projects under your belt but, there are plenty of easy patterns for baby. Including the burping cloths I made. You might have already seen the baby burping cloths I sewed and shared a few weeks ago. I also made a matching receiving -swaddle blanket and inserts for the booties in this post. You can find that project here

We are covering how to sew baby booties. I hope the tips and resources help you if you are ready to get sewing a baby sewing pattern. I am going to share how the project turned out and a few things I learned about this sewing pattern from book Sweet Booties. What I like about the book is you can either cut out the pattern pieces that come with the book or trace them onto other paper to cut them out saving the patterns longevity.

  • This pattern was for the moon booties project.

It calls for different fabrics but, since I didn’t have them I used cotton fabric with an additional layer of cotton linen to give it the stiffness it would need. But, I would recommend using cotton with a second layer of interfacing either sew in or fusible interfacing. I just didn’t have any on hand. This will make it so the bootie holds up. Nobody wants saggy boots.

This pattern is super quick to cut out and use. The entire project only took about three hours, with interruptions like. Mom, “what’s for lunch” and the dog needing to go outside…

Enlarge the image  (click on the image above) to see steps which are only written out and now shown in the book in photographs. I am a visual learner so for me, it’s nice to have words along with some images. If anyone is reading this I hope it helps you see how easy and aids you when working up the pattern and sewing the booties from the book. Pattern – Moon Booties.

The sewing is really easy.

TIPS: The trickiest part is to make sure your bootie bottom is pinned correctly and then carefully sewn on the machine while taking out the pins along the way. Make sure to pull the fabric along and straighten as you go. Doing this will ensure that it doesn’t fold under and a wrong piece s gets sewn. I promise if I can do it so can you!

I used a red corduroy fabric to contrast the teal blue and that went with the mushrooms.

Tip for newer sewers:  When picking fabrics this pattern is one that using certain prints might be difficult for how they lay when sewn. Just be careful when laying out and cutting to ensure your pattern direction is going the way you want on the pattern.

Or just start out by using two solid fabrics as shown in the book which has the baby patterns. Then you won’t have to deal with how the print lines up when sewing.
