Cookbook Review
My favorite parts of the book were
- Chapter 1 goes over the basics of entertaining starting with the guest list, menu, table settings, place cards, lighting, and flowers. I love the tips on what are longer-lasting flowers. There is a short bit about music and entertainment. And a section about dividing and conquering tasks, in planning.
- There are approachable recipes in the book that look delicious. There are several recipes I know I’d never cook due to my taste preferences. An Example: (In the Al Fresco Dining Chapter) Soy Balsamic Marinated Grilled Rack of Lamb (only because I personally don’t like lamb). Yet, I would make the Mezza Platter and sides.
- I love her ideas for a salad buffet and The Poke Bowl Party!
- Many of her recipes have a lot of Asian flair, which I love.
- Oh my goodness the evening for wine lovers chapter has tips for wine pairing and recipes to go with it! And delicious-looking cheese platters…
- Recipes I know I will make and use are the Miso-glazed Salmon on Rice with Wilted Cucumbers. Beef Tenderloin with Pesto Mayonaise Over Arugula Salad. Brie Toast with Truffle Honey… There are too many to mention.
- I don’t host a lot of fine dining entertaining. Yet, I do love to host holiday dinners and celebrations. And there are plenty of recipes and tips to help with that! And make those times less stressful!
