As a sewer, crafter and maker I am always looking for easy diy projects along with supplies for creating them like custom fabric. I’ve often even considered creating my own custom fabrics to sew projects with. You might remember when I created the hand drawn fabric project here that I used for my zipper pouch. But, recently I was researching where I could take my own designs having them printed to create my own fabric. Or look at other people’s designed fabrics to purchase pre designed fabric for a few projects I have in mind. Custom fabric design is something that as a sewer and maker I’ve always been interested in.

I have some designs with florals I’ve done which would be perfect for creating a custom fabric for then using in as easy diy project like a scarf. Another easy diy project I was thinking of making a tent for the kids with a custom fabric forest design on it I created with a boy and girl elf camp in the woods. But, even if you don’t do make own design work not too worry this post will still help you find customized fabric designed by others too. I’ve recently found out that Zazzle.com has added a new product of Fabric! Fabric you can create by taking your designs or photography to  custom design fabric or you can purchase fabric that other makers have designed.

I spotted this lemon designed custom fabric from the editors picks and thought it would make cheery kitchen curtains or kitchen towels. Perfect for a spring project!

Types of fabrics for your easy DIY projects and sewing projects;

What is really great is the fabrics are available in seven types of options including combed cotton to natural linen. The fabrics can be purchased by the swatch to see if you like your own design or someone else’s design. Or if your sure you think you’ll like it you can order it by the quarter or by the yard. The price per yard starts at $22.95 which sounds high but, for custom fabric it’s actually reasonable. When looking at the fat quarter pricing it’s roughly $9.95 a yard / depending on the yards full price. If you quilt you know that’s an average price for a fat quarter. To find out more about their fabrics used for printing visit here for the fabric options and types of fabrics

Pre Designed Fabrics for your easy DIY projects and sewing projects;

When researching the new fabrics for myself I saw that these fabrics they carry are perfect for quilting, crafts, apparel, home décor, and more! Digging deeper I saw they are not for children’s sleepwear, crib or bedding. Other benefits I saw to the fabrics is that they are also printed with non toxic inks and printed in the USA. Visit this page if you’d like to shop designed fabrics.

I was really excited to see that they offer a 100% guarantee or they take it back. This guarantee is located at the bottom of the site, which I assume would cover the fabric offerings too. You might know Zazzle.com from their previous customized product offerings but, I was super excited to find out about their new fabrics and thought you’d love to hear about the new fabric offerings too! What a great option to try out for your creative, crafting and DIY projects! I am working on a few floral designs. I need to take them into photo shop to finish and color my designs. But, even in black and grey I thought I’d share my design in progress with you. I promise to share when I have a design completed!

P.S. You can see the designs up close, in a swatch or what it would look like as a fat quarter or yard and in the various fabrics. It’s really easy to use and buy if you see something you like. Just visit them from any of the above links. I’d love to hear if you saw some fabric you liked! Or made your own!

Have you ever created your own custom fabric? Or purchased custom fabric for projects?
