But then, after shopping, I wanted to make myself, my niece in college, and Sammie their very own felt witch hat. I purchased this cute Felt Witch Hat Pattern. If you would rather get a pre-made felt witch hat (like this) and decorate it, you can. With that said, the pattern is quick and easy, then allow for dry time, and decorate! With each one I craft, they get cuter and easier to make! The customizing options are endless!

Tips and Notes For This Witch Hat Craft
Pattern Tips For Cutting The Circle In a Pattern
- To make the center cut for the cone witch hat, base: First, prepare your paper pattern by cutting out the center hole (poke a starting hole and cut to the line, then cut the circle). Then pin your pattern to the felt.
- For a clean center, fold the felt in half. Make a starter snip along the center fold, and then use your scissors to cut out the inner circle completely. Follow the snip lines for gluing the witch hat base to the felt cone shape.

The witch hat brim will be trimmed up before it is completed. See tips below.
Tips For The Witch Hat Project
- Use craft glue (felt & foam tacky glue) that dries clear. I used Tacky Glue and Elmer's Glue combined when adding the final bottom hat piece. I think that a good craft glue will give you longer-lasting results for a project like this. But, in this one step, you can use tacky glue on the outside edges and a few center spots in combination with the Elmer's glue (dries clear).
- Have a damp, clean sponge, wash rag, or paper towel (may leave paper residue) to clean glue from fingers when working on the project.
- If needed, use a damp, clean sponge (with no soap) to blot excess glue off the felt.
- Trim the base of the brim so the top is matching or less than the bottom brim, as close as possible.
- After assembling, let the witch hat dry completely before decorating. Then display or send it as a gift.
- Use a sewing machine for the seam, or sew it by hand with a needle and thread.
- Use sewing or craft scissors, but don't cut the pattern with your sewing scissors! It will dull them.
- To make this a no-sew project, use fabric glue. Good options are: liquid stitch or this permanent fabric glue for the seam! Both will dry clear, permanent, and washable. I haven't tried it on this project yet, but you can.
