Smurfs Movie Night!

Our family night movie pick: The Smurfs 2, with a little extra movie night fun, Smurf-themed cupcakes!

But, hey, this is perfect for the latest and the new Smurfs Movie (starring Rihanna and James Corden) is due to be released on October 28, 2025. And available for pre-order now! So I’ve made a little update to this post. Don’t be surprised if you see a new version of these cupcakes!

Nothing is better than making an easy dinner for the kids and having a family night of fun while watching a movie after shopping or being busy all day during the holiday season.

We live right around the corner from a Walmart, so grabbing essentials is super easy. I was super excited to be able to get one of the latest Smurf movie releases when we were over there!

Have a Family Movie Night

I gave Sammie a little trivia lesson on the Smurfs. Her older siblings used to watch them all the time when they were on television. Can you believe these little guys were created in 1958? And they are still so popular! They have become these iconic characters from the television show from 1981-1990 and on various networks until 2003. Did you watch them back then?

The Smurfs 2

I picked up The Smurf’s 2 at Walmart along with what I was making for dinner.

The Smurfs are known for their crazy antics and adventures through the Smurf Village. This made me want to up our family movie night with a little extra fun! No, not antics, but by making some fun Smurf cupcakes. I made them during the day for our family movie night while Sammie, her friend, and her dad were holiday shopping. They didn’t want me to go. Hmm, wonder what that means?

Then I had to make dinner before the movie. We went simple on this night! But, if you have time to cook, you might like to see all our easy chicken recipes.

It only made sense to make the dinner easy, which means more time with family on movie night!

I made Tyson Honey Batter Breast Tenders, Sammie’s favorite mashed potatoes, and a cup of cut-up veggies with dipping sauce. Easy for me. Easy to please the kids with this dinner.

Not to mention easy clean up too! Which means more time for movie night! The family loves Tyson Honey Batter Chicken, cupcakes, and Neil Patrick Harris, who stars in The Smurfs 2 Movie!

How To Make Easy Smurf Cupcakes

For the batch of cupcakes, I used vanilla cake mix cupcakes (follow the directions on the box), or you can use my recipe for vanilla cupcakes from scratch.

How To Decorate The Smurf Cupcakes

I decorated them in Smurf colors by adding food coloring to part of the frosting. Use separate bowls for each color. Half with red tops for mushrooms and then topped with marshmallows for the mushroom-tops too.The other half I decorated in blue and white in honor of the iconic blue Smurfs!

Smurf Printable Cupcake Toppers, Wraps, and Coloring Pages

I topped the cupcakes with faux faces and Smurf-looking hats. Since Sammie isn’t a huge frosting fan, I found a free Smurf printables toppers and cupcake wraps. I made several with less frosting, plus the Smurf cupcake topper on (Sorry, I forgot to take a photo of that).

I also found Smurf coloring pages, and the girls colored while they watched the movie. Then they enjoyed their cupcakes!
