Felt Craft Books Patterns You’ll Love To Make!

With summer around the corner, who is planning activities to do with your older kids or teens?? I’ve been putting together Felt Craft Project Ideas. I’ve rounded up some felt craft projects, felt craft books, and activities to do with Sammie. Last year, she really enjoyed sewing by hand and working on her machine sewing.

We really enjoy sewing during the summer months as we can be cooped up indoors due to heatwaves. Summers tend to belong around here. It gets so hot that much of our days are spent indoors. The nice thing is that these felt craft books can be used at any time of year.

What’s fun about crafting with felt is that it’s a great way to get kids interested in sewing. Even for adults, the projects can be quite fun. Do you enjoy sewing? By hand or machine? For the longest time, I followed a few blogs of felt artists and always felt inspired to do more felt projects. What about you?

Big Little Felt Universe 

Big Little Felt Universe is a felt pattern book with 70 projects that are traceable or photocopyable. This particular book might not be for kids, as I’ve read that some of the directions aren’t specific to what stitches to use, but I don’t think that will make it hard to follow or use the directions. I think that just means you might need to know how to stitch by hand. You can visit the link to find out more. Then decide if it works for you. It has patterns for fruits, foods, to a cake with removable candles. If you have kids who love to play kitchen, these patterns might make some great gifts.

My Felt Doll

One of my favorite felt bloggers has been Shelly Down, who blogs at Gingermelon all about her felt craft projects. She has finally come out with a book full of doll patterns. Sewing soft dolls has never been easier with these adorable patterns from Gingermelon.

My Felt Doll shows sewers of all abilities how to make adorable soft dolls using the most basic of materials and skills.. And now she has a second book! Shown above.

Pick up felt sheets and a handful of simple notions to work on these projects. There are the basic doll pattern and 11 imaginative variations on the design, plus over 40 accompanying accessories – from a mermaid to a witch, from a princess to a superhero, and from a ballerina to a bride

With no hems to sew and all the stitching is done by hand. Perfect for beginners and even children. Full-size templates make life easy – trace straight from the page with no need to enlarge.

I’ve always been interested in doll making. Most of the dolls I have made were years ago, when my kids were younger. But, with grandkids now, I’ve thought about making a few more. Wee Wonderfuls caught my eye. This book is by doll maker Hillary Lang. It has 24 loveable doll characters.

Super-Cute Felt Animals

I’m not sure if I mentioned my oldest daughter is due in mid-September. She is making the nursery filled with jungle-themed animals. Super-Cute Felt Animals caught my eye for making felt craft projects. I was thinking of grabbing it and creating a few cute creatures for her nursery from the patterns. I’ll keep you posted and share what I decide to make for her. This book is by Laura Howard and has 35 little creatures from land and sea to make.

Then I happened across this newer release Fabulous Felt, which has 30 easy-to-make decorations. I’m kind of smitten with the little deer hanging and the Russian nesting dolls. Corinne Lapierre is a French artist who designed this book and who previously designed the Felt Christmas Decorations book…
