I am making three of these fabric bunny dolls for three lucky granddaughters. I picked different fabrics for each bunny dress. One fabric was pink with florals, another blue with small flowers, and the other was leftover fabric from my granddaughter's baby quilt (she is 11 now, how time flies). My 11-year-old will love this for her bedroom's decor.
Making a boy bunny doll from this pattern
I decided my little grandson was going to be jealous of his sister's Easter bunny. So I sewed him one using the cow pattern clothes. I adapted the top and used the vintage cowboy fabric (I had found this fabric on Etsy), which I had for his doll. Scroll down to see the photos later in the post.

Skill Level for the Pattern
This bunny softie sewing pattern is slightly beyond a beginner level and up. If you can sew a straight line, sew curves, turn fabric, and know a little hand stitching and some embroidery, you've got this! Plus, know your fabric sides: the right side and the wrong side of fabrics. You will sew the bunny doll dress top and attach it to the gathered skirt bottom.
Note: With the pattern, she has a sewing guide (with images) to take you through the process.
But if you don't sew, the pattern designer makes and sells dolls in her shop. Welcome to her world of magical, unique dolls and patterns. Flabrika on Etsy
My Experience Making This Bunny Doll

Here’s a quick look at how my fabric bunny doll came together—from cutting and sewing to assembling and dressing the finished piece. This isn’t a full step-by-step tutorial, but it gives you an idea of the process and what to expect from the pattern.
Tips for Sewing the Bunny Doll Dress
- Cutting and sewing the dress top (bodice) is straightforward. What is a little tricky is getting it through the small opening when turning. You will need patience, a turning tool, and long tweezers.
- Use a dowel to help stuff the arms and legs of the bunny.
- There are two ways to sew the bodice to the bottom of the dress.
- You need to gather the bottom of the dress. This is easy. If you have never done it; You sew with long stitches and do not stop and reverse to lock in a stitch at the beginning or the end, leaving a long thread on each side. This is done twice. The long threads are pulled to make the gathers.
- When pinning the bottom of the dress to the top, match ends after gathering and find the center. Then adjust gathers as needed. Pin in place before sewing.
- Optionally, you can find a video tutorial and adapt the pattern.
- An extra tip, when sewing projects, I use a storage bin with a lid like this or this storage bin to keep all my pattern pieces (uncut and cut), cut fabrics, and other items. This way, I don't lose anything I am working on.
- I didn't make the bows as shown. I think you need to double the size or cut two to make the bow as the designer did.
This PDF pattern comes with very detailed instructions and step-by-step photos! This is very helpful, no matter what level of sewer you are!

How long did it take me to make the craft project?
Practice makes perfect! Even if you make a few mistakes, the more you sew and practice using the bunny sewing pattern, the better you get! And the easier they become.
Well, it's hard to say as I didn't track time. The project began with printing and cutting the pattern. Then, I pinned and cut the fabrics, embroidered the faces, and added the felt cheeks.
For cutting the fabric and sewing the dress and shoes. It took me a few hours. I think once you make the pattern, each time it will go faster.
I felt like the bunny itself, minus the face embroidery, was very quick to make.
You can definitely make one in a weekend or a few evenings.
Would I use this sewing pattern again?
Yes! And it can be used to sew and sell them (using the terms described in the sewing pattern). Yay, for craft show crafters and small shop crafters!
Making & Finished Boy Bunny Doll

For the boy bunny doll, I adapted the top from the cow doll pattern and used the shorts from the cow doll pattern. If I were to make the top again, I would make the back two pieces with snaps. I made a V-neck in the back with bias tape. The rest of the pattern was the same. I designed and made my own cowboy hat from felt for the little boy bunny, too. A
This Bunny Doll Pattern is my latest sewing project! It is an adorable fabric bunny with felt shoes and a market bag filled with carrots!
