Dear Creatives, I had a post ready but, felt it wasn’t right for today. I wanted to share something more creative, along with thinking about this upcoming Earth Day which is April 22!  The birds are chirping, the sun is out & I am so happy spring has arrived! Also on my list, but not until fall is to go to visit where butterflies by the thousands, of vibrant orange and black Monarch Butterflies flock to Pismo Beach, CA. They are seeking shelter from the freezing northern winters. From late October to February, the butterflies cluster in the limbs of a grove of Eucalyptus trees at Pismo State Beach. I missed going this year, but if you are ever in the area this is something to see so mark your Earth day calendars for visiting the Monarch Migration Locations!

Spring Break Blog Hop

Dear Creatives, Two words: Sugar Hangover. No not really I tried not to dip into the kiddos Easter basket & although she did splurge she seems fine so far! I hope you had a wonderful Easter if you celebrated & a great start to your new week! {blog hop/link-up at end of post}

This week I am taking some time to spend with Sammie over her Easter break, but will be posting as much as possible.

I do have some photos to edit & share of a new recipe, among other things that I am sure will interest you! So maybe tonight when she is in bed I can catch up from all the Easter goings on & weekend to share that will you. I think bubbles is by far my favorite Easter basket item. There is something magical about them & so is this photograph I spotted on A view through my lens on tumblr.

On our spring break agenda is:

  • Sleeping in!
  • A little spring cleaning of the kiddo’s room
  • Playing & watching movies (its suppose to rain tomorrow!)
  • Some paper-crafts
  • A little sewing
  • Visit a historical site for her 4th grade report
  • Audrey’s birthday party (which we have to travel 5 hrs to so we will make it a 4 day trip to get in our visiting!)

With only one week off for spring break, it sure makes it hard to squeeze in all the things we want to do! When traveling up or back to visit my older kids weather permitting we hope to stop in S.F. & go to the Golden Gate Botanical gardens. I just love to walk through all the pathways & capture nature during each season. I can’t wait to see how the gardens look in spring.

Dear Creatives, Wishing you a happy Easter weekend. I am working on a volunteer project today & hope to take some photos to share with you soon. I will be helping paint props & backdrops for a musical play Sammie is in. It really is important to give back & volunteer when you can! With this being such a big weekend with Easter I am highlighting a few & sharing some weekend inspiration in this post. Most of us will be busy, with functions & all things Easter related! But, just in case you do have some time Fri. & Sat or save it for another day, here you go……

I haven’t done embroidery in such a long time, both my mom & grandma were amazing at this craft so when I saw this spring banner it caught my eye. Maybe it will catch yours too if you are looking to try something new. You can visit Charolette’s Etsy shop to see her patterns. The thing I like about crafts like this is you can do them when you are watching your favorite show & make the most of the commercial time. I am just a multi-tasker at heart.

Dear Creatives, I am sharing some ideas for your weekend inspiration, along with a few goodies today! This week has been a challenging one behind the scenes {sick with a cold-flu again!}. I have tried to keep up with posting by sharing my Tamale Pie recipe, Thrifty Tues, updating a page where you can grab your print coupons with an easy to use widget, along with a movie review & healthy meal planning.

Luckily some of this was pre-written.Whew! I need this weekend to recoup! I am extending the link up this week & will mix things up a bit in the coming month! So stay tuned for some new link up news! I am pre-printing these & grabbing the packaging so my peeps can have some of these! Free printable s from eighteen25 This is the perfect way to divide up peeps for Easter & they make me smile.

When I saw that this candy called for Sweet Tart Jelly Beans well I knew this is something I want to try & make during spring break with Sammie or this weekend if I can’t wait! This recipe is marked easy & only has four ingredients – time less than 30min! recipe for Easter Bark.

 

Lemon Lime Tartlet s

Why choose between lemon & lime? You can have both in these Mini Lemon Lime Tart-let s this recipe is stated as being easy, but I had to list it early as it isn’t a last minute due to the cooling time of 2 hours total time 2-1/2 hour.

Now that we have the sweets down I need to catch up around the house & maybe get onto some spring decor!  I happened on this Martha Stewart inspired  idea I had to share it with you! Dear Creatives, Well this weekend is St. Patrick’s day. Do you do anything for it? In my house there will be some cupcakes, maybe an Irish Stew & I am sure the Mr. may indulge in a beer. I’ll tip my hat to my long gone grandfather from County Clare, Ireland & wear one of my mom’s Irish pins in her memory. She always wore green in a stylish way on St. Patrick’s day & I always told her when I forgot to I didn’t need to since I have green eyes. (it was a running joke when I was a kid) Now onto the creativity & Feature Friday Link Up!

A Pinch of Prim

Now this cute little figurine made of paper-clay is created by a talented artist & crafter Michelle Laurtisen who writes the blog A Pinch of Prim & has an Etsy shop also know as A Pinch of Prim. I have been swooning over her little statues she creates & from the looks of it so do many others. If you see something you like they go like hot cakes!

Step by Step Lasagna Recipe & Feature Friday Link Up

Dear Creatives, Who is ready for the weekend? & a new Feature Friday Link -Up?  I sure am. Today I thought I would share a recipe & step by step how to in case you have never made lasagna. This is my homemade recipe & you are sure to enjoy it. I have a few variations of this recipe & it is really great for when the whole family gathers. I have included a pdf that you can just grab & print or save on your computer.

I wish my photos of it cut came out but it was rather dark with rain that evening & it doesn’t take long for this to disappear in our home. The next image shows the steps in photos. I have included instructions along with my recipe in the pdf.

Here is an easy way to lay out all needed foods for layering into the pan. I hope you get a chance to try it & enjoy the recipe.
