I enjoy making the gift tags to add to packages. Then pull the handmade or embellished gift tags out as needed to top a gift or give to someone. These simple gift tags I dressed up have me wanting to make more gift tags. I love pretty packaging. Don’t you?  Gift tags are like the icing on the cake when it comes to topping gifts.

DIY Gift Tags

Gift Tag pink with hearts, trim and velvet tie
I can’t exactly remember where I picked up these paper tags. Maybe they were from a scrap-booking purchase a while back. But, you can cut your own by hand or with a Cricut.

Anyhow, one of the things I am trying to do is use up my crafting embellishments, bits, and bobs, reducing my inventory. I had some white felt and Sammie picked up these little heart embellishments over Valentine’s day clearance when she was at Michael’s with her dad.

How to decorate a blank gift tag

  1. I cut the felt heart glued it onto the gift tag card.
  2. Then glittered the edge around the felt.
  3. Embellished with Valentine’s heart with a cardboard heart with a pink faux stone.
  4. The added cotton lace, placing it at the bottom of the gift tag-card.
  5. I found my pretty pink velvet ribbon to add through the top for a package tie.

Blue Gift Tag with red heart cotton lace string ties

Then I had this pretty blue with white polka dots gift tag. Both tags were pretty as they were, but I felt I wanted to make something special since I have a baby shower to go to soon. I used various felts, embellishments, lace… I decided to use some leftover red felt for this one. It was a K & Company embellishment that was also picked up on clearance. For the bottom of the gift tag I used an ecru colored cotton lace.  I used an ecru string/twine that matched for the tie on.

On the back of the blue on it has a ticket that says my heart belongs to. The pink tag has a stamped received for a name, date and time of arrival for someone’s special day of birth.

How to make A Valentine’s Day Gift Tag

I’m going to be cutting my own tags with my Cricut and making more. Maybe I can stamp something like the received on the ones I will be making too. I promise to share when I get a few done.  Make something special with a Cricut Machine, you will love their design space! I know you’ll love using your Cricut as much as I love using mine! Now off to get some more paper-crafting done!
