You know when you hear someone sing that you just love? It’s the rock, maybe the roll, pop, the story or band. Well, when I first heard Mary Lambert sing I knew I was going to be a fan of her music. That amazing voice. That’s it, it’s all the things I mentioned before and her voice that make me love her music! If you haven’t heard her sing hang on I’ll share later in the post where to preview her music! Welcome her debut album Heart On My Sleeve!

Maybe you know Mary Lambert from singing the song or watching the video Secrets with it’s catchy tune? Or singing with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ on the Grammy telecast with her heart felt voice. Or know her from being nominated for two Grammy Awards (for “Song of the Year” and “Album of The Year”)

Now Mary Lambert has a debut full-length album, Heart On My Sleeve. She has created something fun, catchy and that she says positively impacts the world. She’s happy to stay true to herself. (with lyrics by Lambert and music co-written by Lambert, co-producers Eric Rosse and Benny Cassette, and songwriter MoZella)

“ Mary explains. “I wanted the songs to be poignant and raw, but I want to hear them on the radio. I like to describe Heart On My Sleeve as a pop album with a conscience.”

Mary is quoted as saying, “I felt like there were a lot of songs coming out about self-empowerment and challenging beauty standards, and I wanted to write a song along those same lines, but in my voice,” she explains. “It’s easy to paint a pretty picture and tell everyone to love themselves, but it’s way more complicated than that.

I listened to her new Album and there is plenty to enjoy about it. In addition to the songs are one Poem she recites. In my opinion it could of been left out and I would of enjoyed another song instead. There is some studio music in the CD and one song has a rap type vibe woven in. My two favorite songs are Heart on My Sleeve and Secrets for sure but, there is plenty to enjoy on this album. Sum of Our Parts and Chasing the Moon are two others I enjoyed. But, don’t just take my word for it. Check out Mary Lambert’s You Tube page and website to decide which songs will be your favorites.

I participated in the Mary Lambert Heart On My Sleeve album review program as a member of One2One Network. I was provided a free album to review but all opinions are my own.
