This year for us, we are traveling to one central location to all get-together. It’s fun to bring a basket full of goodies to be shared with the adults. Not only are you helping the host of the house, but you are putting together items you know everyone can enjoy when sitting around catching up, chatting, listening to music and for while playing games.

Ideas for the Holidays

Must have’s for festive parties include chocolate. Don’t you just love good wine and chocolate? For the beer drinkers, a good pairing is salted peanuts, cornnuts and chips. Usually, there are several gatherings. Cocktails such as a Kahlua and Cream minted lemonade vodka or tequila with lime. Smart & Final has a huge selection of beverages.

Holiday Tips

Use CountryTime Lemonade instead of real lemons for your mixer! Works perfect and you’ll have another non-alcohol beverage too! Don’t forget to brew up some coffee and have creamer on hand.

TIME SAVERS

After grocery shopping rather than unpacking and putting your purchases away just to drag them out later. Then, to be packed to take to your gathering, I have a solution for you. Get a basket or reusable plastic container to put all the items in right when you get home from the store. This makes it easy to bring to the hosts’ house. Just add a gift tag and ribbon or twine if you like.

Make a Holiday Gift Basket

Putting it together doesn’t have to take long either. Shopping at Smart & Final you can find all these items and more in one place. You can find, party size, warehouse-size to regular size, fresh produce, meats & in our store, bulk bins. Priced to save, but without the club fees!

Before you head to the store

  • Make a list of needed items for dessert that you are going to bake or your non-bake dessert
  • Add to the list the other needed snack and beverage items for the hostess basket
  •  Have on hand or purchase a basket or container
  • Optional items: Clear cellophane wrap, ribbon, bakers twine or twine and tag to dress it up

Time Savers to make things easy

  • Unpack items for your dessert and set them where you will be preparing it
  • Put all the other items straight into the basket or container you have (to take to party or hostess)
  • Bake or mix dessert to take, let it cool,  transfer onto a tray
  • Place it with the items your taking so you don’t forget them!
