Dear Creatives, Romantic, sultry & classic the newly released album #Sentimental Journey of  Emmy Rossum, is just that. It is a collection of classic covers that take you through the American Songbook. This is the follow up CD to the debut album Inside Out. Emmy Rossum is an actress & singer-songwriter who received critical acclaim for her performance in Phantom of the Opera 2004 & whose television debut was in 1997 on Law & Order. Emmy Rossum brings her classic renditions to life in the album Sentimental Journey.

Emmy’s 12-song “passion project” has a song representing each month in a year. “Each song needed to either lyrically or emotionally reflect the corresponding month,” Emmy explained. You will find a classic style of jazz, ballads & standards. Some of  the songs are sultry renditions, some reminiscent of the classic 40’s & other eras gone by. Classics spanning from the 20’s to the 60’s.

Her voice is impeccable sweeping you off your feet. The kind of music you listen to to evoke romance, an air of  drama, or take you back to a slower time. The song Apple Blossom Time originates all the way back to the 20’s. You can imagine yourself on the dance floor while listening to songs like; These Foolish Things Remind Me or Sentimental Journey. When listening to some of the tracks something sounded familiar about the song I’m Looking Over A Four Leaf Clover it was used by Merrie Melodies Cartoons it was written in 1927  by Mort Dixon. Emmy Rossum’s album Sentimental Journey is aptly named. The songs are just that, taking you on that sentimental journey through song.

I think two of my favorite song tracks on the album are These Foolish Things for its song style, how it is sung & the lovely instrumentals. Autumn Leaves my other favorite song,  where it starts in English & moves to being sung in French, then back to English.

You will find that throughout the album beautiful piano & instrumentals. It is recorded with a live band  at The Village in Los Angeles & completed in just three days, using vintage mics and mastered to tape which is hard to believe due to the quality.
