#Giveaway Time! #MyMemories Digital Scrapbooking Software

welcome spring-001

Dear Creatives, I have been wanting for the longest time to get into digital scrapbooking & when I had the opportunity to try My Memories Digital Scrapbooking Software I couldn’t pass it up! I will share a few things I made, some of my findings along with how to enter the contest which is super easy!! Then you can go & enter the contest!

Sample Pages

You can click all the images I am sharing to enlarge.

These are some of the pages I created with the software.

There is plenty of free digi’s offered to get you started on pages! Such a bonus to using. I loved going into my photo files & revisiting images of Sammie I hadn’t printed & making pages with them. I found you can share the files outside of the program by a simple clicking of share album along with choosing file size & it shows location that it will be in your files. What I haven’t tried that the software offers are Movie, Dvd & Ipod ready. Not too mention you can add music! I am sure with playing around, pulling down menus & investigating that these options will all be things I use.  I know I will take advantage of these features especially since Sammie’s siblings, along with my family are not living in our home town & they love to know what is going on with us.

Of course adding little journal tid bits with the text feature is great! I love that you can change fonts, sizes, bold & rotate among other options with ease! & plenty of fonts to choose from!

I made this birthday invitation so quickly with the software. I wanted to share an example of other things you could possibly use the software for! Yes, not just templates. I am still downloading files & know I will be able to come up with one that will be just the right flavor for her! She is turning double digits in May so I will look at My Memories to find the perfect embellishments to suit her. It is great to have the option to create custom pages! My wheels are spinning as I am packing my bag with ideas to try.

The software is easy to use. I learn hands on  with trial & error, but if you search the help you can find answers very easily! At first I couldn’t figure out how to open to use the backgrounds & embellishments, but it really was so easy & right in front of me. So let me share a few things to save you time if you win or purchase the My Memories Digital Scrapbooking Software.

Extra Tips:

From the control panel on the right side just pull down the item you wish to use ie: backgrounds or embellishments then to open the ones you have purchased or gotten free & pre saved into a folder you just chose Custom then open & chose what you wish to use.

To extract files for sharing outside the program you just select Share Album from the top of the program menu (or) from the right side menu on the Control Panel.

The control panel is the go to easy to use place & includes:

  • Background Papers
  • Photos
  • Text
  • Word Art Designs
  • Embellishments
  • Shapes
  • Calendars
  • Imprints
  • Videos & Multi-media
  • Music & Narration
  • Check Album
  • Share Album

I did have a bit of trouble with files in my computer that I downloaded, but I found that using the zipfiles (under General for downloading files) & placing them where I wanted was the best way for me with my computer. I don’t know why, as I am not the tech expert, but you don’t have to be a tech expert to get files downloaded to the My Memories folder & open to use it. ( the options include for windows / Mac / General as in Photoshop or other * like my computer.

If you are already familiar with Digital Scrapbooking this is going to be so easy for you & even if your not, it doesn’t take a wiz to figure it out! Honestly I am hooked & look forward to learning more about the program along with sharing what I make!! Oh, one more thing I loved it connects directly to the store while in the program if you wish to get something else to use & takes you there with a click of the button.

I wish you the best of luck with your entry! Please Use RaffleCopter for the official entries!

Be sure to come back to see who wins & grab a special discount code if it wasn’t you! Really nobody is a loser in this giveaway!

Dear Creatives, I worked on a web site yesterday so I didn’t get a chance to put together the other card I am going to share, but I thought I would share with you this card for St. Patrick’s Day that you can print & fold that I made. Tales of Paris & Card Making How To / Supply List

Dear Creatives,  I have been busy this past week with various projects not knowing what to share first. I decided to share this little card I made for my oldest daughter who lives in NYC. It has been 6 years since our visit to her, but she travels to visit us since we are a big family & the rest of the family only lives hours from each other, while Sammie 10 the only sibling at home.

NYC view

(Sammie at age 4yr in NYC)

My oldest has worked hard to achieve her dreams. She took a leap of faith after college & moved to NYC, which has taken her on many job journey’s. I finally caught up with her recently by phone after she had  trip to Paris. I can’t help be a little happy-jealous, lol. I have never been to Europe. I loved hearing her tales & experiences.

Bon Jour!

xo

All of a sudden images of Paris, macaroons & little cafes came to mind. Stories of a food tour of the regions & wines of France…. I soaked it all in. Then I just happened to find some pretty scrapbook papers made by Recollections, My Favorite Things Paper-Pad. It is special full of cute images. All things Paris & even some with the cutest poodle. I love the illustrations on this scrapbook-paper.

xo

I had to make her a card after our conversation & seeing this paper, it is becoming one of my favorite things that I would like to get better at.You can save money on cards with just a couple of pretty scrapbook paper sheets.

xo

I placed paper lace on edges. I cut out different images from a 12 x 12 sheet then I glued the cut outs on front & inside of card & a few pearl beads.

card

I used a scrapbook page that had many different elements to choose from & cut them out placing them on the card.

These papers were perfect for making her a little welcome home card.

Here is how to make a card for yourself!

Items needed:

  • Paper-cutter (but by using a ruler, marking line & cutting carefully you could make one)
  • Bone folder
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Elmer’s Glue-stick
  • Scissors
  • Pearl beads
  • Paper Lace

Measure card stock to size 5″ x 12″ or another size you’d like. Fold paper in half, use bone folder to crease down edges flat. Decide what pretty items to cut & glue down. You can always purchase scrapbook items, lace trims & other embellishments. Glue down only flat embellishments in the inside so the card will fold properly. Write your little note & send off in an envelope. Everyone likes a little snail mail now & then.

Here are a few items to make card making easier & more fun!

Some of the cards are for the Hope Unlimited Valentine project. I am hoping to make quite a few more since I / we have until April to send them. So if you would like to help be part of the project & want to learn more about it you can see this post about Hope Unlimited Valentine project. Sammie put all her extra Valentines together, added stickers to them & wrote a little note. We had fun putting them together. Dear Creatives, When one of my blogging friends created a video tutorial on how to cover a box to make a Valentine Mailbox I knew I had to try to make a few. My mailboxes are slightly different than Terri’s, but you will be able to see that you can really create them in any style depending on what supplies you have on had or what you gather to use when thrift shopping, finding vintage or retro things to decorate your boxes.

3-D Paperbag Snowflake Tutorial

Dear Creatives, Candace from Candace Creations is guest posting today I hope you enjoy her visit & tutorial! This is a perfect project for involving the kids!

Source: ruffledblog.com via Theresa on Pinterest

Celebrate the season with these beautiful 3-D snowflakes that are so easy to make.   These snowflakes have a very dramatic effect, especially if you make a collection and hang them together. My friend and I got the idea when we visited Whole Foods the other day and they had big snowflakes like this made from various kinds of paper bags hanging from the ceiling in the front of the store.  You could use any kind of paper bags you have on hand, we used white lunch paper bags.  This is a great craft you can do with the little ones too, which is what we did. I’m excited to be guest posting here today so I can share this simple, fun project with you all and I hope you enjoy it.

What You’ll Need

  • 10 paper lunch bags (for 1 snowflake)
  • scissors, edge punch, etc
  • stapler
  • ribbon or string
  • hole punch

Cut the top edges of all the paper bags to make pretty snowflake edges.

Take two bags and line them up.  Open the tops and staple one side of the bag to one side of the other bag.

Repeat until you have five bags stapled together. Staple the five bags together at the bottom and then open it up creating a fan…half your snowflake.

Take the other five bags and repeat, attaching them all together and making another fan shape.

Take the two half snowflakes (fan shapes) and staple them together through the openings at the top of the bag.  Staple the tops of the bags together, but also the bottom edges as you can see in the picture above.

Use your hole punch and make punch a hole for stringing a ribbon or yarn through so you can hang your 3-D paper bag snowflake.

Adjust all the bags so all the creases are straight.

After putting it together I decided to go around all the edges with the hole punch to add more detail.

We had 4 year olds cut the edges of the snow flakes, but you could make more dramatic or designed edges changing the look of this paper bag snowflake, so it has more shape and is less of a giant circle when looking straight on.  These also look great when made with brown paper bags.  You could even get more creative and spray the finished snowflake with spray adhesive and sprinkled with glitter to give it some bling, glue on some jewels or sequins…or just enjoy as is.  My daughter wanted me to hang hers above her bed, she loves it.

Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy making some of these fun 3-D paper bag snowflakes.  You can find more fun crafts, activities and recipes from me over at Candace Creations.

Semi-Homemade Holiday Cards & Giveaway

Dear Creatives, Hi! I’m so excited to be guest blogging for you all today. My name is Anna and I’m a SAHM mom to two young children, 2 years and 10 months, and I am happily married to my best friend. I love all things crafty and homemade and I use my blog to share what I’m doing and what I find inspiring. I hope you stop by sometime so we can be inspired together.

BeanBugCrafts

Today I’m going to show you how to make a “Semi-Homemade”  Christmas Card. If you are like me, you like to make homemade things or maybe you would like to try to make something homemade, but you just don’t think you are all that “crafty.” Well, this is a quick, cute way for anyone to dress up a boxed set of Christmas cards to give it that homemade touch!

Supplies:

  • Set of boxed of Christmas Cards: I got mine from the Dollar Bins at Target
  • Embellishments: I used a variety of rhinestones with different colors and sizes
  • Ribbon
  • Stamps and Ink
  • Scissors
  • Liquid Adhesive

*Decide how you would like to embellish your cards. I think these snowmen cards are cute as is, but I think they needed a little bit more so I decided to add rhinestones and ribbon.

Cut out how many ribbons you will need. I needed eight ribbon to add to the snowman for his bow-tie. They are pretty small, but they are just enough.

Once the ribbons are made, you will need to attach them. I used my liquid adhesive, but you could also use a hot glue gun. Just be careful when working with small ribbon that you don’t burn yourself, I know I always do!

I then added a rhinestone to the center of each snowflake. The rhinestones I have already have an adhesive, but because the cards are going to be handled a lot I like to add adhesive to them just to make sure they stay on.

I decided I wanted to dress up the envelopes a bit too. So I used a small square snowman stamp and my red ink pad and stamped the image in the lower left corner.

There you have it! Quick, easy, and cute!

Thanks for having me! I hope you liked the tutorial and are able to find some boxed cards so you can make them “Semi-homemade!”

Now, how would you like to win a set of eight of the snowman cards I just showed you? Well, here is your chance. Once lucky winner will get a set of eight already “semi-homemade” cards and envelopes.

All you have to do is:

Comment for each one you did for a total of up to 4 additional entries.

Thanks Again!
