Dear Creatives, Everyone who works in their kitchens loves to have & share good tips along with good recipes! Sometimes you find the simplest things can make a difference & this idea although simple is ingenious! Dear Pinterest, who do we give credit for this? If you know, please do tell! I would love to personally thank them for making my life easier & re-purposing something.

Oh, this so needed piping bag tip!

Martha Stewart Tips:
The best way to clean cast iron: Scrub it with coarse salt and a soft sponge. The salt, a natural abrasive, absorbs oil and lifts away bits of food while preserving the pan’s seasoning. Rinse away salt and wipe dry.

Martha Stewart Tips Using Natural Products:
Combine 3 parts warm water with 1 part baking soda. With a damp sponge, rub the paste on laminate counter-tops, then rinse. It will also polish chrome and stainless steel.

Distilled White Vinegar and Lemon Juice placed paper towels or sponges soaked in full-strength vinegar or lemon juice over crusty buildup around faucets. Leave for about an hour, then scrub deposits away.

Dish-washing gloves protect hands from dishwater. Chicken and Egg print cuff is sewn onto the top of an classic blue rubber glove & sold at Cheldomesticgoodies. While it adds style and fun, the cuff adds functionality by catching the water as it may drip down the glove while doing the dishes. She also sells some cute aprons & other kitchen items.

  • keep a couple of marshmallows in my brown sugar bag to keep it from getting hard
  • baking soda will keep the fridge smelling fresh
  • eggs that are boiled in salted water and quickly cooled in cold water peel easier
  • if you don’t own a pastry bag & need one you can make one in a pinch you can make one from a gallon size heavy duty storage zip-lock bag by just snipping off a bottom corner & zipping bag closed after adding ingredients (no more than 1/2 way full) that need to be piped.
  • don’t have a rolling pin you can use a wine bottle, wrap with saran & chill bottle so floured dough won’t stick to bottle keeping it from getting messy
  • to get onion or garlic smell off your hands rub with lemon juice from a fresh lemon & then wash them
  • A mix of salt and soda water can be used to wipe out and deodorize the inside of your refrigerator
  • Pour salt mixed with hot water down the kitchen sink regularly to deodorize and keep grease from building up
  • Wipe down scissor blades with a cloth dipped in full-strength white vinegar, and then dry it off with a rag or dish towel, this gets anything sticky off without rusting them
  • To clean lunch box smells soak a slice of white bread in white vinegar and leave it in lunch box space overnight. The smell should be gone by morning
  • having your pantry organized, by item categories such as soups, crackers, lunch snacks, sauces, noodles & other staples…helps with grabbing & cooking or making grocery lists

Sew Organized

Dear Creatives, I hope you enjoyed your weekend. It seemed to flown by for me. I started organizing, trying to get a few things put away. My craft room is in dire need of re-organization as it was really my older daughter’s room ( she is long moved out)   now guest / craft-room. Somehow I decided to get rid of an older desk we used in the kitchen & moved a newer desk from the bedroom area to free up space. I moved my sewing machine into that space.

I would love to have a sewing cabinet. I found one that is reasonable in cost & I am considering. I love that it is on casters, as when visitors come I can move it out with ease. You can purchase it in American Cherry Finish or Pine.Today I thought I would share it & some craft rooms, announce the winner of the giveaway &  a few more things, including a link to a super easy tutorial.

One day I hope to have all my stuff in one room to work in. Instead of sewing here, craft there, paint stored in laundry room. You get the idea. Let me show you some of my favorite craft- rooms to date. This room idea would still leave room for the guest bed & dresser.

Not too long ago I helped my one of my daughters move. We left a brand new shower organizer for the tenant coming in. This is a simple storage solution. I could see doing this.

I have been toying with the idea of using a craft table of sorts with bookcases in our kitchen when we paint & lay the flooring. Our kitchen has the best light in winter & in summer stays cool until later in the afternoon. I love the idea of a window seat with more storage too for that area. Hidden away. Baby steps, lol. I’ll be happy if I get my room reorganized this week.

Now I saw this sewing book & I am all about simple sewing. Do any of you have it?

Clorox #BleachItAway

Dear Creatives,

Spending time with friends and family can lead to fun and memorable moments, but also some very messy ones.  One of the messiest moments I will remember is being at the restaurant when my daughter Sammie was a baby. She was at that stage where she would grab things & love pulling. If your a mom you know that age. Well, when talking to family & friends after dinner while waiting for desserts & sipping on a glass of my favorite wine. That is when it all happened. While being distracted by talking, she gabbed the table cloth pulled down the glass of wine spilling it everywhere & there went my white shirt with a wine stain too!

Pinterest

Of course the table cloth at the restaurant was removed & they have a service to deal with that but I was worried about my beautiful new white shirt.  Could even get the stain out? I decided to try Clorox® Regular Bleach. I am so glad I did! It worked miracles on it & yes removed the huge red wine stain!!  I have to say I use Clorox® Regular Bleach all the time on the Mr.’s work socks and for cleaning, but was so glad I used it to remove the red wine stains.

Cotton White Lily Blouse

Now I can where my Cotton White blouse anytime knowing it is as clean & white as the day I purchased it!

Vintage Craft & Storage Ideas

Dear Creatives, Yesterdays diy had me swooning over vintage again! I can’t have just one style! I am more complex than that, lol. Vintage just warms my heart as it reminds me of my grandma, her stories & a few items I have of hers. Do I use them or save them? If I use them I like it to be for something that is going to be in the family. And If I don’t how to display these crafty items?

Honestly where does the time go? I have been crafting, journaling and painting meanwhile my house has been collecting dust bunnies, getting disorganized and just in plain need of assistance. If I had a magic wand I would wave it today to make my space look all tidy like these craft spaces. Our spare bedroom is the guest room / craft room so with Thanksgiving just around the corner this is where you’ll find me cleaning~
